While no other details on the electric pick-up have been disclosed yet. Based on the graphics teased it can be seen that the electric pick-up is almost identical to the outgoing ICE Bolero pick-up which is also one of the best-sellers in the commercial-pick-up segment in India. It features a single cabin, 2-seater format with a flatbed on the back. It has a ladder-on-frame chassis architecture. The ICE Bolero pick-up is capable of hauling up to 1,700 kilograms of payload and the electric version is expected to feature similar capability.
The future of Pick-Ups | Arriving soon
With the launch of an electric Bolero pick-up, Mahindra will also venture into the full-sized commercial electric four-wheeler market, something that has not been done before in India. Up till now, electrification has not been a popular choice in the commercial sector in India. Only three-wheelers or small vehicles like the Tata Ace Electric have seen steps towards electrification in commercial vehicles.
While the teaser states that the electric pick-up is arriving soon, one can assume that it could be one of the five electric SUVs by Mahindra due to launch on August 15. The ‘Born Electric’ SUVs have been developed by the Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) facility in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, under the leadership of Chief Designer, Pratap Bose.
