Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad on August 3 – Times of India

Fuel prices have remained stagnant again on August 3 across the country, except in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra government has announced a Value-Added Tax (VAT) cut on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 per litre and Rs 3 per litre, respectively on July 15, 2022. However, for the rest of the cities, petrol and diesel prices were left untouched by OMCs since Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an excise duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel.

Retail petrol and diesel prices differ from state to state due to local taxes like VAT or freight charges. The government reduced the diesel export tax by Rs 5 per litre as well as scrapped tax on ATF on August 2. Petrol export tax was removed earlier last month.
Crude oil price
On Wednesday August 3, crude oil prices continued to lower down because of less economic activity across the world. According to Reuters, Brent crude futures were down 94 cents, at $99.60 per barrel, while WTI Crude was down 86 cents, at $93.74 a barrel.
